Passthrough, Transparent and No protocol modes

Devices such as a PC or bar code reader can access the controller system through the EXTER panel:

Transparent and Passthrough modes:

The Passthrough mode enables communication through the operator terminal between a PC and the connected controller system, for example to program the controller system. This is a great advantage at commissioning as it makes it possible to access both the operator terminal and the controller system with one connection only. In the Transparent mode, the same is possible but with the advantage that the operator terminal’s normal operation is not interrupted. Transparent mode is only available on certain drivers.

No protocol mode:

No protocol mode enables another serial device to access the controller through the operator terminal. This means that a barcode reader, for example, can be connected to the controller through a serial port on the operator terminal, entering data directly into the controller. This saves the expense of an ASCII or BASIC card for the controller.
